House #53 - The Moye Family

On July 30th, the community came out to celebrate the dedication of the Braddy family home. Standing within the crowd of well-wishers was Kathleen Moye. She held a special interest in the ceremony. She recently qualified as the next recipient of Habitat home #53. We plan to raise the walls of the house for Kathleen, a single mother of five, in September. As is the Habitat tradition, the Moye family has chosen to give their home a name, "Courage".

Kathleen lives in a cramped two bedroom apartment which is not suitable for caring for her twin seventeen year old daughters who are in need of special accommodations. The girls suffer with epilepsy. Kathleen is a hardworking mother who held two jobs, but was forced to give up one because of the fear of leaving her girls alone for long periods of time. She is employed with the Houston County Board of Education as a Paraprofessional.

Let's help our neighbor gain peace of mind in knowing she'll be able to give her family a safer living environment. Kathleen's nine year old son longs to ride bicycles, scooters, and play ball like all little growing boys. His current location doesn't allow this opportunity. Your generosity will help us build a safe and affordable home, allowing Kathleen a chance to improve her living conditions. Kathleen will contribute 400 hours of work alongside volunteers from this community. A zero interest mortgage will be issued to cover the building materials on the home.

Houston County Habitat needs a steady source of funding that will allow us to make this dream come true. Your donation will help families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security. With an affordable and stable home, families have more dollars to spend on food, medicine, child care, education, and other essentials. Your support can help us do more in all the many ways that Habitat builds.
