Houston Ultimate Gals Serving (HUGS) Habitat is a women’s auxiliary
group that works with Houston County Habitat to empower women to
build Habitat for Humanity homes. This program enables women to
positively impact the lives of children by making homeownership a
present reality for families. Women possess all that’s needed to
affect dramatic change in their communities. Through HUGS Habitat,
we can train and equip women to work more effectively, and help
Houston County Habitat increase its capacity and serve more
families. The goal of HUGS is to develop building opportunities
for women in Houston County which will eventually develop into a
Women Build program in which women in our community will fully fund
and build a house in partnership with a family in need.
“All women know that making a house into a home is the
most important job that they have. Being a part of HUGS gives me
the opportunity to work with my daughter, Nichole, and other
women in the community to help make another women's greatest joy
come true - make a home for her family.”
-- Wanda Suckow, Vice President of Finance, Warner Robins Area
Chamber of Commerce and HUGS volunteer.
